Mike and I are off to CA for a photo-shoot for a client. It’s going to be eight days of crazy-hard work, but I’m looking forward to ending each day with an incredible meal at one of the thousands of awesome places to eat in LA (any suggestions??). I can’t wait to indulge in the things that are hard to find in Northern Wisconsin: ethnic food, fresh seafood and tropical fruits. Mmmm!

Sunny Malibu with its aqua-blue ocean and tan citizens and salty air will provide the perfect grand-finale to summer. I’m packing sandals and light dresses and breezy tops to work in, because we’ll mostly be outside in the heat…and of course my bathing-suit, because I’ll be damned if I don’t get to jump in the ocean at least once!

When we return, we’ll be coming home to the best time of year here in the north: FALL! I can barely wait for crisp evenings, cider pressing, garden harvesting, and the leaves changing colors.

Catch you all on the flip side!

Home Again

We’re home from Atlanta and feeling really great about how the trip went. We worked our tails off outside in the very extreme heat and humidity, so right now nothing feels better than sitting inside with the fan on the highest setting {we don’t have air conditioning} and a very cold beverage in hand. I might not do anything else today. My body needs some serious re-hydration and rest.

All of your suggestions about what to do and where to eat in Atlanta were awesome, thank you. We really wish we could have had more time for fun while we were there, but we basically collapsed into bed every night and didn’t have any extra energy to spare. But on our last night, we ate at Local Three and it was excellent. All their food is sourced locally, and some of it is even grown by the two chefs personally. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the flavors.

On a different note, here’s a peak at the lilies blooming in our yard right now.

Their vibrant color gives me energy. I probably should go unpack. Or weed the garden {it needs it, bad}. Or make us something to eat. Or workout.

Orrrrr just sit here and not move.

Busy with Business

We’re leaving on a jet plane today to Atlanta for a client photo shoot. Thanks to Design*Sponge’s nifty Atlanta City Guide, we know exactly where we’re going to get most of our props. This week will be full of very long, hot days moving furniture and holding diffusers and letting my photographer husband boss me around {I’m sure he cherishes every moment of this, since I’m usually the boss of everything.}

If anyone is familiar with Atlanta, please pass along your suggestions of neat things to see/great places to eat. We always like to mix a little pleasure with business, to keep spirits high.

See you back here next week! I’ll miss you!
