Duuuuude. How amazingly cute are these jean pockets turned into potholders? I MEAN! My next sewing project for sure.

And speaking of sewing, my aunt Cathy who is very talented with a needle and thread {like, makes-her-daughter’s-prom-dresses talented} taught me how to make these cool “poufs”. They’re basically ottomans, but cuter.

I stuffed mine with old bed sheets and mattress pads that I shredded up {and all the stuffing that Charlie has ripped out of his toys over the years- I saved it hoping it could be reused someday.} Aren’t they so comfy looking? I still have to sew the top patch down on the yellow and gray one, but the red one is finished.

‘Tis the season for board games and reading good books by the woodstove with our wool-socked feet propped up on a pouf! Plus they double as extra seating when we have a party.

What are you re-purposing around the house lately?

I take old t-shirts and cut them into strips, fasten about 6 of them together at the top, braid them, fasten them at the bottom and VIOLA! New dog chew toy! With 4 dogs I need a lot of toys to entertain them.

I also made some awesome shelves out of shipping palletes I snagged from work. (im sure you probably saw the project on pinterest)I sanded them, stained them and hung them on the wall in my studio to hold books. They were pretty easy to make and look amazing! I also have an idea to make a wine glass rack out of one. I havent tried it yet, but I think it would look pretty cool and rustic…

They look great Tonia! THanks for the kudos! I have been slowly stuffing my burlap pouf with the scraps of material that I usually wasted when I make the vests for the Indian Guide troops. Now I will save all my scraps of fabric when I’m making things for future poufs. I’m going to try those pot holders too!

I am a “project-junkie”. I have an obsession with power tools and making things handmade- HA! I have never done a tutorial before – but I wouldn’t mind doing one if you can message me on what to do. Did you know that when they ship items on palettes they TOSS the palettes?? When I asked my warehouse manager if I could have one he said : “sure! we just toss them in the dumpster.” *GASP* What a friggin waste!! It just kills me how many reusable items are just tossed.

LOVE the Poufs!! I would love to make one for my home, but I’d have “poufs” everywhere if my dog-kids got ahold of them. They would make great x-mas gifts for my niece and nephew though!!
